If you are ready to learn about these rejections and if you want to know how you can handle them, keep reading.
1. They are avoiding shame.
Some people will reject your offer because they are avoiding shame. They value their titles. They value their self-worth.
These people are too afraid to be told how crazy or stupid they are when they involve themselves in network marketing.
Network marketing is not a pyramiding scheme but when you watch the news about it, most of them will tell you that it’s a scam.
Because of this, the people you offer your opportunity to will reject your offer. They avoid their names being dragged because of what they know about network marketing.
Network marketing may not be for these people who avoid shame. Still, thank them for their time and ask their permission to update them after a few months (about six months). If they agreed, that’s great! If they don’t, thank them anyway and wish them well.
2. They are having a bad day.
There are times when a prospect had a bad day (or even week). Some people will reject your offer because they are having a bad day. It’s easy to spot someone who is having a bad day.
These people will reject you because they were not focused on your invitation or your presentation. Their vision is blocked because of their current circumstance.
When people reject you because they had a bad day, it’s totally OK. You can simply thank them for their time and you may offer to listen to their problems.
There are some people who need someone to talk to and by empathically listening to them, you can gain a friend and a potential business partner.
3. They feel secured in their jobs.
Some people will reject your offer because they are secured in their jobs. Usually, these people are paid a lot in companies that they work for.
When you encounter this kind of reason for rejection, just hold your posture and still act professionally. Never put down their jobs because you might activate their fighting instinct.
Instead, tell them that you are happy for them and ask their permission if you can update them later of upcoming events or product launches.
4. They are happy with their jobs.
Some will reject your offer because they are happy with their jobs. Some may not be earning a lot but are happy with their jobs.
When you encounter this kind of reason for rejection, handle this professionally with a good posture. Never put their jobs down nor tell them about how miserable they are going to be in their jobs.
Thank them for their time and be happy for them. You can later ask their permission if you can contact them in the future for updates on your business, events or product launches.
5. They find it difficult to do.
Some people will reject your offer because they find it so difficult to do. They find it unusual because they were trained to work for someone else. They find it odd because it’s different from their typical 9-to-5 routine at work.
They will find it difficult because network marketing does not work that way. When people will reject your offer because of this, thank them for their time. Never insist especially if you have not established a relationship. The more you insist, the more they will reject and avoid you.
Some people were trained to work for somebody else. They developed a mindset that it’s easier to work for someone else that to work for themselves. Some are just trained to be an employee, not an entrepreneur.
6. They don’t have enough money
Some will reject your offer because they think they don’t have enough money. The truth is, 99% of the time, they have. They simply just don’t see the value of their money in network marketing.
When you encounter this, at that moment, simply tell them you understand what they are going through. You may then use the Feel-Felt-Found formula when dealing with this type of rejection.
You may say, “I know how you FEEL and I FELT the same way when I was invited. Because I saw the real value in this business and the potential income that it can give me, I FOUND a way coming up with that amount of money.”
7. They don’t have enough time.
Some people will reject your offer because they think they don’t have enough time. These kinds of people thought they are busy and they thought their 24 hours aren’t enough.
When dealing with this type of rejection reason, you can still use the Feel-Felt-Found formula to emphasize your point. You may say, “I know how you FEEL and I FELT the same way when I was starting. Because I saw the real value in this business and the potential income that it can give me, I FOUND a way to fit it into my busy schedule.”
8. They think you are crazy.
Some people will reject your offer because they think you’re crazy. This is true among your friends who saw a shift in your lifestyle or in your personality.
This example is too common in our industry. Let’s say you were the brain of the batch. You were a consistent No. 1, you finished college with flying colors. Many companies offered you high-paying jobs with overflowing and out of this planet benefits. Then you decided to sell make-up, lipstick and shampoo.
What do you think will your batch mates think? They may think that you are on drugs or something like that. When you invite them in your business, they will think you’re too crazy and some of them will reject your offer.
When dealing with this rejection, stay postured, act professionally and still have a laugh with them. Never make them feel awkward in your presence.
Network marketing is not for everyone. Always remember, people are rejecting your offer, not rejecting who you are. When they reject your offer, remember to hold your posture and deal with it professionally.
People will reject your offer and always remember that every rejection leads to your next YES.
